Flood Warning issued on 4 Jan 2024 22:44
Western Rother
The Western Rother is high and rising. 35mm of rain has been recorded at Iping, in only a few hours on Thursday. Which is a lot in a short period of time. From 23:30 04/01/2024 flooding will affect isolated properties at the eastern end of The Wharf, near The Wharf bridge (Commercial units and King Johns Court). Land and fields near the Cowdray ruins will also be affected by flood water. A further 5mm of rain is possible through the early hours of Friday. Very little rain is expected Friday daytime through to next week. The river should begin to fall by 08:00 05/01/2024, but will be higher than normal until Saturday. Early actions to reduce potential impacts at The Wharf are encouraged. Consider deploying flood protection products, if you have them. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 16:00 05/01/2024
